Many manufacturers begin SEO by translating their Chinese product names into English. It feels logical, but it often misses the searches that bring real inquiries.

International buyers may search by product type, application, specification, certification, material, problem, or buying scenario. Keyword research is the process of finding buyer language, not simply translating supplier language.

Build keyword groups by intent

Product keywords are the obvious starting point: terms such as “fiber laser marking machine” or “industrial barcode scanner.” These searches are competitive, but the buying intent is clear.

Application keywords are more specific: “laser marking for stainless steel tools” or “barcode tracking for warehouse automation.” These are ideal for application pages and case-style content.

Question keywords attract buyers earlier in the journey: “how to choose MOPA laser for color marking” or “what IP rating is needed for outdoor sensors.” These topics work well as guides.

Each group needs a different page type. Product pages convert. Application pages explain fit. Articles answer questions and build trust.

Search volume is not the only signal

In industrial B2B, many valuable keywords have modest search volume. A long-tail query with 40 searches a month may be worth more than a broad term with thousands of casual visitors.

Look at the search results. Are the ranking pages manufacturers, distributors, technical articles, marketplaces, or academic papers? If the results are full of suppliers and specification pages, the keyword is probably close to a buying task.

Turn buyer questions into page structure

Good SEO content does not repeat keywords. It answers the questions behind them: size range, compatible materials, certifications, MOQ, customization, delivery time, installation, maintenance, and documentation.

If one product serves multiple industries, do not force every use case into one page. Use a core product page for the main keyword, then create application pages for specific search intent.

Map every keyword to a page job

Each page should have one primary keyword, several related terms, and a clear conversion goal. Title, meta description, H1, alt text, internal links, and CTA should support the same intent.

Export SEO is not won by tools alone. It is won by understanding how buyers describe their needs before they contact a supplier.
